Next stop on our journey is the beautiful island of Kauai. Its beautiful landscape has been seen all over the world in various movies, such as Jurassic park, Fantasy Island, Raider of the Lost Ark, and many more. It is because of its lush landscape that it is called the “Garden Island”.
Kauai is home to the only navigable rivers in the Hawaiian Islands. Take a paddle down the popular Wailua River. You’ll be surrounded by lush jungle landscapes and feel as though you stepped right into a scene from Jurassic park, without the scary dinosaurs of course.
Another must see is the beautiful town, Hanapepe. Charming shops and eateries are housed in historical buildings. A celebration of artists happens on Fridays and you’ll enjoy exploring the art galleries throughout the town. Enjoy a walk over the Hanapepe swinging bridge then dine in this famous old town.
If you want a little more adventure a trip down a zipline or horseback riding is also offered on the island. The ecofriendly zipline will take you through lush valleys, rain forests, and streams. There are several companies that offer this service and you can shop for one that will fit your needs. Horseback riding is also offered by several vendors. Whether you want a stroll along the beach or to secret waterfalls you are sure to find one that fits.
Where to stay? Though I haven’t been lucky enough to stay at the St. Regis Princeville resort the reviews and pictures look amazing and it has been placed on my must do list. The 5,000 square foot pool that overlooks Hanalei bay is the main reason why I selected this resort. You’re in Hawaii, you want to enjoy the outdoors, nature, and the beautiful scenery so why not do it poolside overlooking one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Visit us later in the week when we hop on over to the island of Oahu.
